Ted Herbosa is the new health officer of the PH 2023

Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa is a Filipino doctor who is known for his important work in the health field of his country. Herbosa was sworn in as secretary of the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, June 6.

In a tweet, Herbosa said, “It is an honor to serve this leadership, the Filipino people, and their health care needs.”

Malacaang had said before that Herbosa’s hiring was based on his vast knowledge and experience in healthcare systems, public health, emergency medicine, and other fields.

Herbosa got both his bachelor’s degree in biology and his medicine degree from the University of the Philippines (UP), which is where it all began.

Not only did he graduate from UP, but he also worked for the school and helped it grow and change.

“From 2017 to 2021, he was the Executive Vice President of the UP System, holding positions like Chief Division of Trauma at the Department of Surgery at the Philippine General Hospital and Chairman of the Board for Physicians for Peace Philippines,” Malacaang said.

DOH

Herbosa is not new to the DOH, though not many people know this.

He was the department’s Undersecretary from 2010 to 2015. During that time, he made important contributions to the Hospital Accreditation Commission, the Modernization of the Philippine Orthopedics Center, and the promotion of Public-Private Partnerships in Health.

The Department of Health (DOH) has said that his return is very important to the way the department works since he was hired.

Task Force Covid-19

Herbosa did not quit public service because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, he was the Special Adviser to the National Task Force Against Covid-19, which was a very important job in the health sector of the country.

Because of this job, he was able to help come up with ways to lessen the effects of Covid-19 across the whole islands.

On Monday, June 5, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. officially named Herbosa as the head of the DOH. On the other hand, Herbosa promised to keep improving the country’s health care system.
